Major telecommunications media:

Cat5e

Enhanced Category 5 is a Specification designed to allow networks to support very high-speed data transmission, like Gigabit Ethernet, at a bandwidth of 100MHz.

Category 5/Class D Specifications guarantee data networks to perform at 100MHz and is suitable for 10Mbps and 100Mbps data transmissions. The demand however to increase the amount of data transferred has become significant. Enhanced Category 5 provides Power Sum Characteristics that enable these increased data rates.

Traditionally crosstalk has only been measured between any combination of two pairs within the cabling. Power Sum is a way of calculating the crosstalk on an individual pair caused by the three other pairs in the cabling. This is of crucial importance for Gigabit Ethernet, where all four pairs are used simultaneously

Cat6

Category 6 is the specification for cabling systems to support data transmission at very high speeds, offering a bandwidth of 200MHz. It provides an excellent platform for Gigabit Ethernet (which uses complex encoding techniques to limit the required bandwidth to 100MHz), but also caters for future high-speed data transmission protocols using less expensive encoding techniques.

If you are currently running Fast Ethernet then installing Category 6 cabling now will enable you to make two technology leaps: to Gigabit Ethernet, and then beyond. This will prevent future disruption to your business, which will easily offset the additional cost of installing Category 6 now.

Remember that Enhanced Category 5 may not be capable of supporting technologies beyond Gigabit Ethernet.

Fiber Optic

High-bandwidth backbone and long distance inter-building links, are typical applications for Optical Fiber connectivity.

As the demand for network bandwidth continues to grow, so too will the requirement for fiber, even through to the desktop connection. HARDSOFT provides the expertise, capability and unrivalled experience to install Fiber systems.

Our service includes cable installation, termination and full testing and certification.

We are fully equipped complete with OTDR test equipment for both Single mode and Multimode fiber.
